Do you love our community? Vision 20/20 needs your help!

We need your help describing just one or two of your favorite spots or living communities in Fort Wayne! We have had lots of new people to the area who say they wish Fort Wayne had a central location to find information about where they should live, work, and play.

YLNI has been asked to help populate a website concentrated on highlighting Fort Wayne and Allen County.  A primary reason for this site is to help HR professionals at local corporations with recruiting new talent, but it will also act as a useful tool for locals.  For brevity, here is an example of a similar site in Grand Rapids http://www.experiencegr.com

If you have a favorite restaurant, park, neighborhood, churches, etc. that you think would be good to highlight, we would appreciate your help.  This is intended to be useful, so any hole-in-the-wall places will be just as accepted as the well-known places.

Here is what YLNI 2020 Committee needs from you :

  • Contact 2020@ylni.org  to let them know you are interested in submitting
  • The committee will direct you on how to best  submit & also prevent overlap
  • Submissions are due February 24 for the soft launch in March, so we need to know you are interested very soon
  • Contact 2020@ylni.org with any questions
  • Get others engaged in the project, by having them fill out a form for their neighborhood, church, or whatever else they wish to highlight!

Upcoming Last Saturday

The Fort Wayne Cultural District presents its February 25th “Last Saturdays” line up. Last Saturdays encourages visitors to explore some of the many downtown performances, and other events, which appeal to all ages.  These all-day events, each last Saturday of the month, are meant to increase access to the venues, businesses, and institutions which make up downtown Fort Wayne.

“There are many options for new-comers, as well as a few surprises for those who are familiar with downtown”, said Dan Swartz, cultural district liaison. “Downtown is the perfect location for creative endeavors and Last Saturdays allows artists, performers, entrepreneurs, and others to highlight their work and ideas.”

February’s Last Saturday line up includes musical events such as the Embassy’s “Down The Line” fundraiser, “Pizza and Pizzicato” at 816 Pint & Slice as well as acts at the Dash In, JK O’Donnell’s, Hall’s Gashouse, the Auer Center and many more. In addition to the music, downtown institutions like the Fort Wayne History Center and Science Central are offering half-off discounts on admission, and venues are promoting special features! For more information including updated schedules visit www.artsunited.org, or www.facebook.com/lastsaturdays.

Last Saturdays is a project of the Fort Wayne Cultural District, a collaboration between the Downtown Improvement District, Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, Visit Fort Wayne and the City of Fort Wayne.
