My City Summit

In 2011, the Knight Foundation released the results of its Soul of the Community project (3 yr Gallop study of 43,000+ people in 26 cities). Fort Wayne was one of the cities. It found that fewer than 1 out of every 10 residents thought Fo

rt Wayne was open to young, talented college graduates. The study also found that communities with the highest levels of attachment had the highest rates of GDP growth. Quite simply, if Fort Wayne does not change its perception amongst young adults, the economy will suffer.

YLNI, A Better Fort, the City of Fort Wayne, and Impact 52 are attacking this negative perception head on with My City Summit: Redefining Community Engagement. In this one day conference on 11/2/12, young adults will collaborate with community leaders to help break down the barriers that challenge our community. Through inspirational programming focusing on leadership, diversity, economic development and public service, attendees will be exposed to opportunities to become more engaged and attached to the community.
